Who is eligible to join MOMS Club®?
Any parent living in Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, or Palo can join MOMS Club of Cedar Rapids, IA. However, because most of our activities are held during the daytime, Monday-Friday, we are best suited for parents who are at home during these times, though several of our members do have home-based businesses or work outside the home.
Do I have to live in Cedar Rapids to join this chapter?
Our chapter boundaries currently include the cities in the metro area of Cedar Rapids, IA. The chapter you may join may be based upon your address. If you don't live in the immediate area and would like to find a chapter closer to you, please contact the International MOMS Club®.
Can I attend a MOMS Club activity before I decide to join?
Absolutely! Prospective members may attend up to two activities before deciding whether or not to join. Contact our Membership Vice President for information about our monthly meetings and events.
Are you affiliated with any religion or political party?
MOMS Club® of Cedar Rapids is a non-denominational group and holds no specific political ideal nor pursues any political or religious agenda. We welcome all families from all walks of life with a motivation to be a space where all feel welcome. All we ask from our members is to be respectful and kind to others when it comes to their beliefs/political stances.
Are there attendance requirements?
MOMS Club does not require attendance at any of its events. Members may attend as many, or as few, activities as they choose. However, we do want to stress that our club’s success relies on member participation.
Do you use a social media platform?
Yes! Although we do have a facebook page, all of our member to member correspondence is done on BAND (available on Apple or Android). We use this to protect the privacy of our members and it helps having an in-app calendar and direct messaging system that we find easier for our members to use. Once a member joins, they are sent an invite link for our group. This platform is where we do all of our in-group planning, discussing, and sharing when not in person.
Are there membership dues?
Yes, our dues are currently $15 (full membership) or $10 (summer membership) per year, which covers administrative costs of running the club. We understand that staying at home to raise children involves a financial sacrifice for most families and we do our best to keep dues as low as possible. If a member is experiencing a financial hardship, we can work with them, in a confidential manner, to address the reduction and/or waiver of dues. We also have a Summer membership option, and after your first year, an Alumni membership will become available to you.
How do I join MOMS Club?
The first step is to contact our Membership Vice President to let us know you are interested. Once we verify that your address is in our boundary area, the MVP will assist you in attending an event and filling out the necessary membership forms.
